About Our Pastor

Pastor Jim Brown has been at Eureka Bible Church since April, 2009. Before Eureka Bible Church, he pastored Bible churches at Ashton, Iowa, Delton, Michigan, and Bourbon, Indiana.

Pastor Jim was ordained in 1991 at Community Bible Church, Stratford, Wisconsin. He attended U W Platteville and received a BS in Technical Agriculture, and then Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, IN, and received a Master of Divinity degree.

Pastor Jim serves as an Adjunct Professor at Brookes Bible Institute, and speaks at Bible Camps each summer.

Jim and his wife Carolyn have seven children; one son is teaching English in the Middle East; another lives in Iowa. Two daughters are in college, and Carolyn homeschools the three at home. Carolyn enjoys gardening and canning, reading and taking care of the home.

Jim enjoys woodworking, camping, fishing and hunting, as time allows.

The Brown family is blessed by the musical interests of their children; several of the children are taking piano lessons, violin lessons and voice lessons. Betsy and Ruth have played in the Maryville Community Orchestra. Hiking and biking are also family hobbies. In 2013, two of the Brown children spent time overseas in Mission work.

My Testimony

I grew up in the Midwest in a farm family. We started in Michigan, moved to Minnesota, and settled in Wisconsin.

I learned a lot about the Great Lakes, dairy cows, cheese, and the outdoors. I didn’t know so much about the Bible.

As a graduation gift I was given a Study Bible; as I read the explanatory notes and introductory sections I was amazed at how little I knew about God’s Word.

My family had gone to church enough that I knew that I was guilty of sin, and that sin separated me from God. I knew a little about Jesus Christ, that He came and gave His life on the cross.

As I read the Bible I realized that I needed to trust Jesus Christ personally as my Savior in order to receive the forgiveness of my sins. I had big dreams of being an important and successful farmer, but as I read the Gospels I came to see that I needed to set aside my dreams and follow the Lord.

In 1982, after a summer as an agricultural exchange student in Europe, I trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior and yielded my life to Him.

In retrospect I realize that I never really “gave up” anything, as God has given me better and greater things than I would have ever found on my own.

I think I am gaining an understanding of what Jesus meant when He said “I have come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

Living with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, following and serving Him, life has been rich, and eternity will be better still. And it is all because of what the Lord Jesus Christ has done, pardoning my sin and reconciling me with God the Father through His blood.

My dreams now are for other people to find what has been so graciously given to me: forgiveness, peace, purpose, deep and lasting friendships, and more.

I don’t think you should trust Christ just because life will be better for you, but because God commands it (Acts 17:30) and because it brings Him glory. Let us glorify Him.

“Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6
